Jordan and Cameron's Nighttime Phoenix Engagement Session

Self proclaimed punk rock nerds Jordan and Cameron knew they wanted something different for their Downtown Phoenix engagement session. When talking to them about it, Jordan mentioned vests Cameron had made for both of them that they will also be wearing to their Halloween themed wedding. There was also talk of something in the realm of cosplay. Then I heard LIGHTSABER. Yes. Please.

Picturing how I'd use these in an engagement session, I threw out the idea of doing the session entirely at night. No use of the sun whatsoever. If you know photography, you know how much we love using the sun and it's glorious power. However, there is such a big world that opens up for you when you consider other techniques or methods of lighting up your subject. They were down and the challenge was on! We played with available light from the city, LED lights, flash, long exposures, and, of course, the light sabers. We even got access to an amazing rooftop!

These two got engaged in Vegas...and this session hit the jackpot! ;P Below are some of the many images I'm super proud of from our night engagement session.

Up for something different in your engagement session? Want to get wild and do a night session? Hit. Me. Up.

Sami and Lionel's Roosevelt Row Engagement Session

These two walruses share a lot of things in common, besides their spirit animal. They are both therapists, don't take themselves too seriously, and are unique to the core. We wanted their Phoenix engagement session to reflect that. Roosevelt Row was a perfect choice for them with the mix of beautiful murals and unique textures. And we did pretty dang good. We laughed a lot. We used a Polish bar for a background which reflected Sami's heritage nicely. We even thought we were getting arrested at one point. You know, all the stuff a session with me comes with. :) I love this set and I think we got a good mix of everything.

Here is some of the best art we created during their Roosevelt Row engagement session.

Downtown Phoenix is pretty rad. You are too. If you want to do an engagement session there or anywhere, send me a note and let this photographer show you it's true.

Carrie and Ben's Phoenix Backyard Wedding

I love all the historic neighborhoods in downtown and midtown Phoenix. The older houses there are filled with such charm and character. Fitting that two people with such charm and character would choose to hold their intimate Phoenix wedding at an Airbnb in the Coronado neighborhood. Carrie and Ben were joined by their closest family members, as well as Ben's trusty steed of a Dodge Dakota, as they tied the knot. Afterward they drank champagne, we had some fun making silly photos, and we all showed off our bling. It was pretty perfect.

Here are some of the best images from their Midtown Phoenix backyard wedding.

Pretty venues are fun. But backyard weddings are just as fun and the intimate feel is tough to beat. No matter where you're getting married, send me a message and let's talk about making your day kick ass.
