Kat and Kurt's Children's Museum of Phoenix Wedding

Kat and Kurt used to live next to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. One night from their place, they noticed a bride and groom coming out of the museum. They also knew the museum used to hold Play Date nights for adults. They thought it would make a pretty kick ass wedding venue. They were right. In terms of unique and playful venues to have a Phoenix wedding, I’m not sure you could top the Children’s Museum. But these two really leaned into that and brought their own fun all day. There were jam sessions, a cute dog, a pub visit, leaping groomsmen, beers passed out as guests walked into the ceremony, photos in play areas, dancing…and one of the nicest, most laid back, most fun couples you could ever meet. I’ve been pretty pumped for this blog post. But it was one of the hardest times I’ve had narrowing down images.

This venue should be on the bucket list for all Arizona wedding photographers. But you can’t have Kat and Kurt. ;) The following is my best attempt at picking my favorite photos from their Children’s Museum of Phoenix wedding.

Jacqueline and Ryan's Downtown Phoenix Wedding Session

Jacqueline and Ryan were married in a courthouse but asked me to do a wedding session for them so they could get some photos to mark the occasion. A couple of natural artists let me make art of them in Downtown Phoenix. It feels great being trusted to do that by anyone, let alone artists themselves. I don't take that compliment lightly.

I've known Ryan's family for a bit now and also shot his sister's wedding a couple years ago. They are a bunch of rad people so I was excited when Jacqueline reached out to me about doing the session for her and Ryan. In fact, these two awesome people even added to their family last month when Jacqueline gave birth to their baby girl, Darlie. Congrats you two!

Here are some of my favorite shots we created while walking around downtown for their wedding shoot.

I am based in Phoenix and love shooting weddings here, there, or anywhere. If you're getting hitched, drop me a line and let's talk about making some art together.

Jordan and Cameron's Nighttime Phoenix Engagement Session

Self proclaimed punk rock nerds Jordan and Cameron knew they wanted something different for their Downtown Phoenix engagement session. When talking to them about it, Jordan mentioned vests Cameron had made for both of them that they will also be wearing to their Halloween themed wedding. There was also talk of something in the realm of cosplay. Then I heard LIGHTSABER. Yes. Please.

Picturing how I'd use these in an engagement session, I threw out the idea of doing the session entirely at night. No use of the sun whatsoever. If you know photography, you know how much we love using the sun and it's glorious power. However, there is such a big world that opens up for you when you consider other techniques or methods of lighting up your subject. They were down and the challenge was on! We played with available light from the city, LED lights, flash, long exposures, and, of course, the light sabers. We even got access to an amazing rooftop!

These two got engaged in Vegas...and this session hit the jackpot! ;P Below are some of the many images I'm super proud of from our night engagement session.
