Gillian and Alex's Phoenix Secret Garden Wedding

When it comes to sparkler exits, I sometimes recommend couples do it early if they crowd looks like it may be smaller come time for the party to end. Just to maximize the amount of firework awesomeness in the photos. Gillian and Alex preferred to maximize time with their guests and didn’t care if the photo opp wasn’t what it could be. Hearing that was a career highlight for me. They weren’t doing it for the perfect photo. They were doing it all for their friends, for their family, and for their own fun. And we still got kickass sparkler photos.

I believe everyone deserves the wedding of their dreams, but sometimes you meet people who you can’t help but be a little extra happy for when you see them having an amazing time at theirs. Gillian and Alex went through tragedy together that kept their wedding from being truly complete. However, it seemed to me it was as perfect as it could be given the circumstances. They celebrated hard with family and friends all night and their infectious joy and energy made it a treat for everyone.

Here are some awesome photos from their Phoenix destination wedding at the Secret Garden Event Center.

Hannah and James' Heritage Square Engagement Session

I’ve been really excited for my wedding this weekend as well as the one next Friday. My last two full weddings of the spring season. Wedding season been strong. So strong, it’s been two months since I’ve gotten a blog post up. I’ve been having fun with awesome people and crushing great photos for them. At least I like to think so. :) I caught up enough this week to finally get to a blog post. Started gathering my images. Writing my words. Then I realized that while another wedding was up in the rotation, I had to get Hannah and James’ engagement up. That’s because next Friday’s wedding is theirs!

Hannah and James are competing hard for most fun couple I’ve gotten to photograph. They don’t mind being silly and they love each other tons. Their wedding is going to be a huge day of awesomeness. I know this session sure was. We even started them out on a beer date at the very place they had their first one years ago. Mother Bunch Brewing. I love that we were able to do a spot like this and then move right across the street to Heritage Square…which happens to be where they got engaged. I’d love more sessions where we go to meaningful places like that.

Here are a handful of the best photos from their Phoenix engagement session. Can’t wait to see you both one week from today and make you dance in front of my camera again. :)

Ruby and Cristian's Papago Park Wedding Session

Some of you may not know, filmmaking is what eventually led me to getting into still photography. I took a prerequisite class on it for my film major in college and fell in love. While photography is my full time gig, I’m still in the world of film here locally. I met Cristian through that and was honored when he asked me to photograph him and Ruby. These artists were married in a private wedding ceremony, but still wanted some art to honor the occasion. We talked about pets and films while strolling around Papago Park. Tough to beat that.

The following are some of the best photos we took at their Papago Park wedding session.
